Tramadol Chemical Composition
Synonyms: Tramadol HCl ARS; Tramadol impurities. Tramadol hydrochloride is a centrally acting analgesic. It’s chemical name is (±)cis-2-[(dimethylamino)methyl]-1-(3-methoxyphenyl)cyclohexanol hydrochloride. It is a white, bitter substance with no odor and is crystalline in form. Tramadol hydrochloride is water and alcohol soluble with a pKa of 9.41. Its n-octanol/water log partition coefficient (logP) is 1.35 at pH 7.
Tramadol hydrochloride tablets contain 50 mg of the active ingredient. The tablets are white tablets and contain inactive ingredients as well. The inactive ingredients in Tramadol hydrochloride tablets are colloidal silicon dioxide, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, pregelatinized starch, sodium starch glycolate and titanium dioxide.
